VP of Engineering at YouGov, leading AI transformation
I'm a software engineer from Poland. These days my title says VP of Engineering at YouGov, where I look after our product platforms and, since 2023, our AI transformation. I still think of myself as an engineer first and I lead by example.
I studied computer science with AI in London and stayed to write code, first in telecoms, then at Localgiving.com, helping small UK charities fundraise online. I joined YouGov in 2012 to build CoEditor, our panel engagement platform. Shortly, I moved home to start YouGov's technology center in Poland. We grew it to 50 engineers first then went remote-first, and expanded into India, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and beyond. Along the way I did the technology side of several acquisitions, including our largest, the €315M purchase of GfK's Consumer Panel business.
A word of warning about my full title: "VP of Engineering (Platforms)" here "platforms" means product platforms, the systems our panelists, researchers and clients use, not platform engineering. Netflix once invited me to an industry dinner full of platform engineering leaders before anyone checked. Lovely evening, wrong Paweł, in a sense.
